Jefferson County Release Records
“Released” describes the end of one custody event. It does not always mean that a person walked free. The Jefferson County Jail holds adult men and women before case resolution and people serving local sentences. A person may leave after posting bond, after a judge orders release or dismisses a case, or when a local sentence ends. The Sheriff records the physical custody change. The court file explains the legal authority for it.
Other exits are transfers. A person can move from Jefferson County custody to the Idaho Department of Correction, another jail, federal custody, or, when applicable, immigration custody. In those cases, the county booking ends but confinement may continue. Parole and probation are also distinct. Parole is supervised community release during a state sentence. Probation is a court-ordered community sentence or condition. Discharge means the sentence or supervision obligation has ended.

Note: A missing jail name proves only that a current county custody listing cannot answer the release question.
Jefferson County Release Paths
The next record depends on how Jefferson County custody ended. These paths should not be merged into one generic inmate result. A booking record may point to a court order, another agency, or a later supervision record. Following that chain is what distinguishes a community release from a transfer.

A transfer date is not a final discharge date. Likewise, an IDOC “In community” result can describe parole or probation, while sentence satisfaction is a separate endpoint.
Jefferson County Jail Turnover
The official 2021 PREA survey offers useful scale, but it does not publish a release total. It reported 489 admissions, made up of 379 male admissions and 110 female admissions. The year-end population was 42, while average daily population was 65. Admissions count entry events. They cannot be relabeled as annual releases.
The difference between admissions and a daily count shows why Jefferson County release research needs event records. A snapshot cannot explain which people left, why they left, or where they went.
Jefferson County Release Fields
Jefferson County does not publish an online release-field dictionary. A focused request can still name the public record elements needed to verify an event. The list below is a request inventory, not a claim that every field exists in the jail system or must be disclosed without redaction.

Does a release record prove the whole case ended? No. It proves a custody change within the scope of the record. Court proceedings, supervision, another hold, or a state sentence may continue.
Note: Request the receiving agency field whenever the central question is whether the person entered the community or stayed confined.
Request Jefferson County Release Records
Use the Jefferson County Sheriff public-record request form. Deliver or mail it to Jefferson County Sheriff's Office, 200 Courthouse Way, Rigby, ID 83442. - Give the person's full name, date of birth if known, and a narrow booking or incident date range.
- Name the booking sheet, admission and release time, custody disposition, release authority, receiving agency, and photo as separate requested items.
- Ask for the public portions and state that reasonable redaction is acceptable.
- Request a cost estimate before extensive search, review, or copying work begins.
- Compare the response with the court record or receiving agency when the event was not a direct community release.
The 2026 county fee resolution provides the first 100 standard paper pages without charge for qualifying resident requests, then lists per-page rates. The first two labor hours are also free under the stated framework. Idaho's current public-record guide gives outer response periods of up to 10 working days for residents and 35 for nonresidents, subject to the statute and request facts. Those periods are not promised delivery dates.
Note: Ask for existing records, not a newly compiled release list that the Sheriff's Office does not already maintain.
Jefferson County Record Access
Idaho Code Title 74, chapter 1 governs local and executive-branch public records. The presumption of access remains subject to exemptions, redaction, safety and privacy limits, and active-investigation concerns. The request must go to the agency that holds the document. The Sheriff handles county booking and release material. IDOC handles state sentence and custody records.
Court records use Idaho Court Administrative Rule 32 instead. Public docket entries may coexist with sealed or restricted documents. Juvenile information receives added protection, and the Jefferson County PREA audit says juveniles are not housed at the adult jail. No county jail retention schedule was found online, so the continued existence of a requested record must be confirmed with its custodian.
Jefferson County Records After Relief
Idaho Clean Slate relief shields eligible records rather than destroying them. Official instructions describe a petition route for qualifying nonviolent, non-assaultive matters after at least five years have passed since the whole sentence was completed, including supervision, fines, and restitution. The eligibility limits are strict. A shielded case may stop appearing to the public even though the underlying record still exists.
The Idaho State Police route under Idaho Code § 67-3004(10) is narrower. It concerns fingerprints and criminal-history information for specified no-charge, acquittal, or dismissal outcomes. It does not erase each sheriff record, court item, or independent copy. Therefore, absence from a later search should not be treated as proof that the person remained jailed or that no event occurred.

Find Jefferson County Released Inmates
Start with the agency that last held the person. Jefferson County has no official online person roster, 24-hour release list, or 72-hour release list. That makes the Sheriff's durable record and the court file central for a county-only booking. Idaho VINE can provide a timely event lead, but it is not a historical release archive.
- Confirm that the booking was in Jefferson County, Idaho, not a same-named county in another state.
- Check Idaho VINE for a current custody event and notification options.
- Search iCourt for the Jefferson County case, release order, bond, dismissal, sentence, or later satisfaction entry.
- If state custody followed, search IDOC by name or IDOC number and inspect status and sentence fields.
- If federal or immigration custody may apply, use the matching BOP or ICE system promptly.
- Request the Sheriff release and transfer record when the online trail is absent or unclear.

Jefferson County IDOC Release Lookup
Use the IDOC Resident/Client Search only when the person entered Idaho state jurisdiction. Search by last name with an optional first name, or by IDOC number. The interface accepts partial surnames of at least two letters and partial IDOC numbers of at least three digits. A county charge alone does not place someone in IDOC.

IDOC says its data updates daily but may not show the most current status, place, or date. Satisfied names can remain searchable while conviction details stop displaying. The official search interface illustrates the proper state path.
This screen belongs to the state system and should not be used to declare the exact door-release time from Jefferson County Jail.
Note: “In community” can mean supervised status, so check the sentence-level fields before calling the event a final discharge.
Jefferson County VINE Court Check
Jefferson County's VINE instructions say Idaho VINE covers prisons and jails and can alert for release, transfer, or escape. Those are different events. Registration may use phone and email, with text or mobile options described in current IDOC material. A phone contact uses a four-digit PIN. Entering the PIN followed by the pound key acknowledges the call and stops repeat alerts.
VINE is a prompt to verify, not the final record. The county's older fact sheet described jail data transfers every 15 minutes, but that dated cadence should not be treated as a current guarantee. Calls can arrive overnight and may retry for up to 48 hours if not acknowledged. Registration is confidential.
For the legal basis, search Idaho iCourt, narrow to Jefferson County, and match the case number and charge context. The register may show bond, release orders, dismissal, judgment, sentence, probation, revocation, or satisfaction activity. Physical release time still comes from the Sheriff's record.
Jefferson County Court Release Proof
Jefferson County court access has three layers. Statewide iCourt supplies basic case information. The courthouse has a kiosk for documents that are available there. The local all-cases request form provides a direct route to the Clerk when a document cannot be obtained from the public portal.
The Clerk is at 210 Courthouse Way, Suite 120, Rigby, ID 83442, and can be reached at 208-745-6313, option 3. Office hours are Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., excluding major holidays. Filings received after 4 p.m. move to the next business day. Copy charges listed on the form are $1 per page plus $1 for certification. Restricted and sealed material remains subject to ICAR 32 and, in some cases, judicial approval.
This layered route can preserve proof of the legal disposition long after the county custody event ends. A court order explains authority; it may not show the minute when the jail completed processing.
Note: Match court results by case number and context because names alone can join the wrong person or matter.
Jefferson County Reentry Status
The nearby Idaho Falls Community Reentry Center creates a common status trap. It houses up to 112 minimum-custody men who are nearing release, but placement there remains IDOC custody. A community setting and the phrase “reentry center” do not prove that a person has been released.
Look for a later IDOC “In community” status and Released to Supervision date, or a sentence-satisfaction record. The official Idaho Falls Community Reentry Center page identifies the facility and its custody role.
The distinction matters because a move within IDOC is not the same event as release to state supervision or full discharge.
Note: The facility name describes its reentry mission, while the later IDOC status fields establish when custody actually changed.
Jefferson County Release Documents
A person who needs replacement Idaho identification can use Jefferson County's Driver's License Office at 200 Courthouse Way. The office uses appointments for replacement and renewal services. This local document route is separate from proof of release, so the Sheriff's custody record remains the source for the jail event.
State record disputes take another path. IDOC's GovQA portal accepts focused requests for a sentence-calculation report, release-to-supervision document, satisfaction record, or other named state record. A discharged parolee may seek the Gold Seal through the last supervision district. The Gold Seal is evidence of final discharge, not the same as the first date of release to parole.
Jefferson County ICE Release Transfers
An immigration detainer can change the meaning of the county release point. ICE describes a detainer as a request that an agency keep custody for up to 48 hours beyond the time the person would otherwise leave, allowing ICE to assume custody. The Jefferson County jail event may therefore end in an agency handoff rather than arrival in the community.
The ICE Online Detainee Locator covers current detainees and people released from ICE custody during the prior 60 days. Search promptly by exact nine-digit A-number and country of birth, or by exact name and country of birth with an optional birth date. People under 18 are not included. No reviewed source established a current Jefferson County ICE contract, so this is a conditional route, not a claim of routine local practice.
Keep two events separate: release or transfer from Jefferson County, then any later release from ICE. After the locator's public window, an absent result proves nothing.

Jefferson County Release Facilities

The Jefferson County Jail is the only adult detention facility inside the county verified in the reviewed official sources. That bounded finding should not be expanded into a claim that no temporary, contracted, or later-created holding place can exist.
